Rangers Fans Should Cherish Vuckic But Shouldn’t Get Used To Him

Rangers-2

In the past few days speculation has mounted about Newcastle United loanee Haris Vuckic joining Rangers permanently. But I just can’t see the Slovenian staying at Ibrox beyond the end of this campaign.

New interim Gers boss Stuart McCall has stated he’d like to keep hold of Vuckic if possible.

Plus the international capped player himself has also said good things about the Glasgow club and a possible switch…

“I’m happy here, playing good and scoring goals,”

“I want to play first-team football and in the summer we will see what is the best option for me.”

Out of the five loan signings from Newcastle United, Haris Vuckic is the only one to make any sort of impact at Rangers. But what a tremendous impact he’s had. In his ten appearances for the ‘Light Blues’ he’s grabbed an impressive six goals, five coming in his last five matches.

The Slovenian’s superb form in the west of Scotland has helped Rangers out of their slumber and they are now charging towards second place in the Scottish Championship, and a place in this seasons lucrative play-offs.

Attacking midfielder Vuckic has excelled on the righthand side of the pitch, loving the freedom it gives him and the opportunities to cut inside and onto his favoured left foot. As well as being a threat in the scoring charts, he also has a good pass selection in his game and those passes can unlock tight defences.

Vuckic’s current Newcastle deal doesn’t run out until the end of the 2015-16 season.

But unfortunately I doubt Haris’ parent club will want to a deal with Rangers during the off-season.

Toon owner Mike Ashley had a strong influence on the Rangers board up until Dave King’s new regime took-over in early March. That takeover was pretty hostile and Ashley is still smarting over the defeat.

So with all that in mind would Mike Ashley sell anyone to King’s Rangers?

I just can’t see it.

Doubts remain over the new regimes ability to put serious cash into the club and use that in transfer deals. Plus we still need to wait and see what league the Glasgow club are playing in next term. Would Vuckic really want to play in Scotland’s second tier for a full season?

Ashley would probably instruct those in charge of Newcastle to ram up the price so Rangers would have to pay over the odds. The new board can’t afford to be pressurised into any deal and won’t go over board on one name as that could risk too much in the long run.

I’d imagine Newcastle would prefer to offload him to an English Championship side, who’ll have more money and who Ashley doesn’t hold a grudge against.

It’s a real shame because Haris has been great for Rangers and the club have given him a fantastic platform to excel in. But Mike Ashley doesn’t forgive or forget easily.

That’s why the Gers fans need to enjoy Haris Vuckic for the remainder of the season because who knows when or if he’ll be back!
