Luis Suarez Could Be An Ideal Signng If Tottenham Were To Sign Him
It looks like it’s going to be a very busy summer for FC Barcelona.
It has been heavily reported that superstar forward Lionel Messi has told the Spanish giant’s hierarchy that he wants to leave before the transfer window shuts (Source BBC Sport).
That stunning news has really caught the attention of the world’s media and any football club with a substantial wealth have been linked with the Argentine’s signature.
But Leo isn’t Barca’s only top class attacker who could be ready to depart the Camp Nou in the next month or so.
New Barca boss Ronald Koeman supposedly made the instant decision to tell Luis Suarez that he was no longer wanted by the Catalan side. Football365.com have now stated that the La Liga club are looking at terminating the Uruguayan hitman’s contract.
No doubt many teams in Europe will be interested in the sublime goalscorer.
Yes, he’s now in his thirties and has suffered a bit with injuries but he still knows where the goal is and has the pace and intelligence to get away from opposing defenders.
For me, an ideal destination for Suarez could be Tottenham Hotspur and I think they should jump at the chance to sign the striker.
We all know that Harry Kane is a leading scorer in England’s top flight. But we also know that the English international captain picks up injuries during a campaign and Spurs miss him greatly when he does. Luis would certainly have the guile to led the line for The Lilywhites.
But that doesn’t mean that Suarez would be seen as just being Kane’s back-up. Suarez has history of playing out in the wings but I actually think Spurs could go with two up-top with Kane and Suarez rotating playing as the number nine.
Now before we question veteran Suarez’s ability as he’s getting older, the Uruguayan will leave Barcelona after scoring 198 goals in 283 appearances for Los Cules. In what was seen as a being a disappointing year for Luis last term, he still bagged twenty-one strikes and created ten assists. That is still terrific numbers for any leading forward in a top league.
I have no doubts that Spurs manager Jose Mourinho would love to work with the passionate, yet sometimes hot headed, Suarez.
The ‘Special One’ enjoys working with players that have a nasty side to their game and who possess plenty of self belief – Just look at his relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
After Luis scored and celebrated against his former club Liverpool in the Champions League, Mourinho was quick to praise the hotshot forward:
“Luis did something which is good and I love it,”
“Many players today in football, they play and sometimes, even playing which is an emotional moment, and is a moment we are paid for, they still care with the image and some moments where people can say, ‘oh, nice fair play’ and, ‘oh, nice, he’s playing against the team where he played for a few years and where he was loved’.”
“That has nothing to do with this 90 minutes. And for this 90 minutes he forgot that he played for Liverpool.”

The Spurs gaffer won’t care about the Uruguayan’s age. It means more to him that the attacker is still a fine finisher and has Premier League experience.
Spurs supremo Daniel Levy may also be keen given the fact a fee might not be involved!
I really think it would be a great move for all parties if Luis Suarez were to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer. He’d give them more attacking options, a winning mentality and a passion that will improve the London club’s first team squad.
