Time For Torres To Turn It Up At Chelsea!

Torres

Fernando Torres must know his time at Chelsea is running out. In fact he’ll probably counting down the seconds. I don’t say that in any way to upset the player or Chelsea fans, some transfers just don’t work out and the time has come for Torres to say ‘Adios’.

If and when Torres does depart it will be a blow to owner Roman Abramovich’s pride. He shelled out a whopping fifty million pounds on the World Cup winning Spaniard. In return Torres has scored forty-five goals in 172 appearances. But only twenty have came in the English Premier League.

The forward seems to have lost a yard of pace and appetite for the game. He has had the odd fine performance and everyone then asks ‘is this the real Torres back?’ but the truth is that Torres is no longer the prolific talisman he once was at Atletico Madrid and Liverpool.

At Chelsea he isn’t going to get the nod ahead of Diego Costa in the big games. In fact the attacking players like Andre Schurrle have more chance of leading the line than Torres. The final nail in the coffin for Fernando is Didier Drogba coming back to the club. He too will get the nod ahead of Chelsea’s number nine.

Torres needs to get a change of scenery and away from the huge price tag.

Roma, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Inter and AC Milan have all been linked with the striker but none of them have made a bid as of yet.

That could be the big issue. You can only offload a player if there is interest in that talent. Now I have no doubts that Jose Mourinho would drive Fernando Torres to his new club should a side bid £10m. But will anyone bite the bullet and take a risk on a player that seems so lost on the football park?

The fact is Fernando has a contract with the Blues that runs until the summer of 2016! He can’t rot there until then. Maybe a team can take him on loan this season with an option to buy.

Can Torres become a hit again? For me, only if he leaves Stamford Bridge and even then its not guaranteed he’ll do anything of note again. Shame as he was such a talented striker.
