Pedro Would Be An Ideal Manchester United Signing!

Pedro Rodriguez

English Premier League giants Manchester United are looking to tie up a £22m deal for FC Barcelona forward Pedro.

United look to have stepped up their interest after selling Angel Di Maria off to Ligue 1 champs PSG for a fee in and around the £44m mark.

Di Maria failed to show Man United boss Louis van Gaal that he possessed the right work ethic and guile to adapt and flourish in the English game.

The Argentine international will argue that he actually had a decent first season with the ‘Red Devils’ as he scored eight times and created twelve assists. He will also feel that Van Gaal never gave him the best of chances after he was continually played out of position.

But his heart didn’t really seem to be in it at Old Trafford especially after a burglary attempt at his house earlier on this year. That incident probably convinced the player that he and his families future lay away from England’s north west.

No matter the reason (or reasons) for Di Maria’s departure, United look intent on replacing him with Spanish World Cup winning forward Pedro.

It would be a coup if Van Gaal can get his man.

Pedro might have fallen down the pecking order at the Camp Nou but to miss out to a trio like Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez isn’t embarrassing.

The twenty-eight year old should arrive in England determined to prove that he can play regular first-team football at a top European club.

Even though he spent much of last season watching on from the bench, Pedro still managed to score six times in La Liga and provide his illustrious teammates with six assists too.

The fact he can play anywhere in a front three will please Van Gaal, who might see Pedro, Memphis Depay and Wayne Rooney as a striking combination that can see United challenge for major honuors again next term!

Although the Spanish striker has a canny knack of scoring important goals, it will be his all round play that will impress Dutch coach Van Gaal. Pedro is quite happy laying off for teammates to get the end glory of scoring the goals. The team objective is more important than individual records. It’s that type of mentality that has seen Pedro become a champion for both club and country and be viewed as a valuable player in both squads.

At twenty-eight years of age, now is the ideal time for the player to step away from Messi and Co’s shadows in Catalan and get more first team action for himself.

You’d imagine he would thrive with more exposure from the start and by receiving more responsibility at Manchester United.

It would be exciting to see him up top with Depay and Rooney. If given a bit of freedom to interchange with each other, you would imagine that United’s attacks will be more fluid and decisive. It would be an attacking trio that would cause defence in Europe to worry, especially if they were on-form and running at you!

In Pedro, Van Gaal will hope to get a hungry, experienced forward who will come in and instantly command respect with his winning mentality and his impeccable pedigree.

It would be a transfer that would significantly enhance the Manchester United squad and should have them putting up more of a challenge when it comes to the Premier League title next season!

  1. Di Maria failed to show anybody anything other than that he is an unreliable lying little rat. He failed to show up in America. He told the fans he was staying as he was on his way out the back door. He had one or two average games at the beginning of his United “career”, that wasit. goodbye and good riddance!
