Fabinho Will Be A Fab Signing For Liverpool
AS Monaco have announced that they’ve done a deal to sell Fabinho to English Premier League Liverpool. The Reds have beaten a host of top clubs to get the Brazilian signed, in a deal believed to be worth £40m.
Along with Thomas Lemar and Radamel Falcao, Fabinho has been one of Monaco’s star performers of the past two years and helped the Principality club to their Ligue 1 title triumph in 2017.
The twenty-four year old was first seen as an attacking right-back but he’s been superb since he has been deployed as a defensive midfielder and that’s the position I see Jurgen Klopp using his new signing.
I believe Fabinho will add more strength and speed to the Merseyside team’s holding role.
He has a great passing ability and had an 86% passing success rate with Monaco last term. He’s also strong in the air and on average won 2.9 aerial battles.
On average, during thirty-four league games and five Champions League outings, Fabinho made around 3.4 tackles and 1.3 interceptions. He also possesses the pace and brains to cover defensive mistakes, I’m looking at Dejan Lovren.
When comparing him to the outgoing Emre Can; the Brazil middle-man scored more, had a better passing average, made more tackles, was stronger in the air and he also had made more interceptions.
He seems ideal for the Premier League and a great acquisition for Liverpool, who have been desperate for a strong tackling midfielder.
Fabinho has also got an eye for goal, having scored sixteen Ligue 1 goals in the last two years.
He seems determined to meet the Anfield club’s ambitions:
“A football club of this size coming after my services, I didn’t have to think that much about coming over,”
“I will try to create my own history at this football club. Hopefully, on a personal level, I’m able to win titles with this club.”
It’s great that Liverpool haven’t dwelled on their Champions Legaue final loss and have went out and instantly improved their squad with a top class talent and reinforced a position that needed to be improved.
It shows that the club aren’t prepared to stand still and that they’re wanting to challenge for all the major titles next season!

I’m excited to see what he brings. We’ve had a solid first 11 but he bench was always lacking in depth. To think about our midfield options with the addition of Fabinho and Kieta it looks much more positive. As long as Ox and Lallana canneries to form I think we’ve now, maybe, got a squad that can push on more than one front without being weakened when ‘resting’ players
