Ryan Fraser Would Be A Smart Buy For Liverpool

Various newspapers, including The Metro, are reporting that Liverpool are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign AFC Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser.

The Reds have a phenomenal front three in Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah but after that they may have issues.

Divock Origi has come in and scored vital goals in the past but he adds a different dynamic to the attacking line-up. He has to become the focal point and they lose a bit of direct pace with the Belgian international in the team.

I think youngsters Rhian Brewster and Harvey Elliot would be better off getting game time and leaving Anfield on loan for the remainder of the season, come January. I think Brewster especially needs to get more first team minutes under his belt and that won’t happen this term at Liverpool.

Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri can play up there but he’s better in deeper positions. He’s also missed a lot of this campaign due to injury.

What Liverpool would be getting in Fraser is a player that would come in and keep the width within the team. He would also have the pace and directness that would cause multiple problems for Premier League teams.

Last term, Ryan Fraser scored seven times and more importantly he created fourteen assists in England’s top flight. This season he’s got two assists to his name and grabbed a goal against Everton.

His ability to create plenty of chances would excite the likes of Firmino, Salah and Mane. He’d also offer Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp versatility as he can play on either wing or even as a number ten. That would mean that no matter who got injured in The Reds frontline he could come in and they’d still have a threesome that would be full of fluidity and pace.

Fraser predominately plays out on the left-wing and he’s already developed an understanding with Reds left-back Andy Robertson due to the fact they’ve played together numerous times with Scotland.

The player himself would have to understand that he can’t walk straight into the team. That could see him benched for a long period. But on the other hand he’d be moving to a club that’s challenging for the Premier League title as well as trying to retain the Champions League.

As the run-in really gets into full swing you are going to get players that will need a rest, the team might need something new to freshen things up or unfortunately a serious injury may happen to one of their star forwards.

Ryan Fraser would still a lot of game time, Klopp likes to rest his forwards after the half hour mark.

The Scottish international winger’s current club boss Eddie Howe has already warned the Cherries support that he can’t guarantee Fraser would remain at the club this season:

“I never make guarantees to anybody. It’s football and you never know what can happen.”

All in all, this potential deal could be huge for all parties.

Liverpool would be getting in a player that’s proved himself to be a game changer in the Premier League. Ryan Fraser would get his chance to prove himself at a top four club challenging for major silverware. It could also be good for Bournemouth if they can keep Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson on a permanent basis due to doing a deal with the Merseyside club regarding Fraser.
