Gareth Bale Would Definitely Be A Signing That Would Excite Mourinho At Spurs
Jose Mourinho’s new Tottenham Hotspur side survived a nervy final few minutes to beat West Ham United in the Portuguese manager’s first game in charge of The Lilywhites.
That 3-2 away win (BBC Match Report) has seen Spurs move back into the top half of the Premier League table.
Jose will have enjoyed the first half performance but will know that there’s still work to be done with his new squad.
I believe Mourinho will want to add new faces in the next few transfer windows. I think he will look to bring in a new full-back for each flank, The Sun are already linking Leicester City’s Ricardo Pereira with a move to Spurs.
When you look at Jose’s previous jobs, The ‘Special One’ is always keen to add more experienced players and ones that are proven winners.
In that regard he could be very tempted in bringing Gareth Bale back to North London. Before helping Real Madrid to three Champions League titles, Bale was a stunning forward for Tottenham.
In his final season at White Hart Lane, the Welsh wizard regularly produced match winning performances. He was a hero with the Lilywhite faithful.
He has produced those scintillating displays at Real but not on a regular enough basis to satisfy coach Zinedine Zidane or the crowd at the Bernabeu. The relationship between Bale and his manager and the fans seems to be irreparable. It seemed as though he was destined to make a move to China before Madrid pulled the plug on that deal as they wanted a transfer fee (Source Wales Online).
Jose Mourinho might feel that the Tottenham Hotspur stadium could provide Bale a new haven to help the Welshman rediscover his best form!
Due to injuries and his fall-out with Zidane, Bale has just played six times in La Liga this term. In those games he has scored twice and created two assists. His career has been built on being as equally good at scoring goals as he is at creating them.
He is versatile enough to play anywhere in the forward area, although I’m guessing he’d be a massive threat to Lucas Moura’s right-wing spot. Mourinho will appreciate Bale’s versatility but more importantly his pedigree and ability to turn the biggest of games, as he did twice in a Champions League final!
Gareth would add more of a big game mentality to the current Spurs side, if he were to return. He’s also a leader on the park as he copiously proves with the Welsh national team.
Being a leader and influential in the final third would give Harry Kane much needed support up front.
Jose is also known to be a Gareth Bale fan. In 2017, while he was managing Manchester United Jose stated he’d be very interested in signing the talismanic attacker:
“If he is not in the club’s plans, that with the arrival of another player would mean he was on his way out, I will try to be waiting for him on the other side and fight with other coaches that would want him.”

Current Tottenham Hotspur maestro Christian Eriksen could hold the key to get Bale back to Spurs. The Dane has talked up a move to Real in the past and a swap deal involving the two players could interest both teams.
Jose Mourinho is known for making big name signings in his first window at a club, especially players that are experienced and can turn games in his side’s favour.
Bringing Gareth Bale back might curry favour with the home support and light a fire within his squad’s belly!
