Lille’s Victor Osimhen Could Be Ideal Aubameyang Replacement At Arsenal
Recent reports suggest Arsenal have pulled out of contract talks with star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Source Football365).
The Gabon international’s current deal expires next summer and you can only imagine that the Gunners will be willing to cash in on the thirty year old during this summer’s transfer window.
If Arsenal do indeed go on and sell Aubameyang, then obviously Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will have to earmark a replacement.
One potential target could be and should be Lille OSC forward Victor Osimhen.
Twenty-one year old Osimhen has had a very successful debut campaign with the French side. He has bagged thirteen Ligue 1 goals in twenty-seven appearances. He has also scored two strikes in the Champions League and three more in the French domestic cup competitions.
So in total, Victor has eighteen goals in thirty-eight games this season.
The youngster has also collected four league assists in his twenty-five starts.
The striker has now won nine caps for Nigeria and has scored four goals for the Super Eagles.
Like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Osimhen is better when he’s deployed through the middle but he can also play on the wings.
The young forward isn’t just a speed merchant. He has the strength to hold up play and the intelligence to bring other attacking teammates into the game.
Now as a teenager Victor actually turned down The Gunners:
“Arsenal was a good option but it wasn’t the best at the time,”
“I wanted to start playing as soon as I turned 18. I wanted to go to a place where I had time to invest in my game and improve physically.”

That comment might actually be a good sign for the North London giants, if they do indeed attempt to sign the player. It shows us that he wants to progress and he thinks fairly highly of Arsenal. The Gunners could provide the best step up to a bigger club but still have a straight forward path into their first eleven.
