Joshua King Could Be A Jadon Sancho Stop Gap At Manchester United

Transfer deadline day is fast approaching on the fifth of October.

Anyone who has seen Manchester United play so far this season knows that they need a few new faces to bolster their chances of challenging for silverware this season.

They probably need another forward, centre-back and left-back.

The Red Devils main transfer target this summer has been Borussia Dortmund and England attacker Jadon Sancho.

With time ticking down, it’s believed that United Chief Executive Ed Woodward will make one last ditch attempt to bring Sancho back to England.

But alas any potential bid could be thrown out as Dortmund manager Lucien Favre believes the club need to keep their key player:

“We need him, no question. Everyone was happy that he stayed,”

“We don’t need to talk long about its qualities – they are enormous. He scores and sets up a lot of goals and can often make all the difference.”

So let’s say Man United can’t complete a deal to bring in their top transfer target, the Red Devils will still need another forward for this campaign.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are dead certs to start when fit and in form. Mason Greenwood is fast becoming a superb young player but he still needs time to develop and that might mean he will have to be rested at times. Daniel James is still finding his feet at Old Trafford and isn’t consistent enough to be considered a first team regular. Loanee Odion Ighalo only has a contract until he end of January and I don’t think the Nigerian is any better than being an impact sub at United.

I believe Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will want another versatile forward and one that can shine on the right flank.

A player that might interest the Old Trafford side could be AFC Bournemouth striker Joshua King.

As a youngster the Norwegian internationalist played for United’s youth teams, graduating alongside the likes of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard. Solskjaer was also the coach of the reserves at that point. That means King won’t have much trouble settling in back in Manchester and the coach will know all about his qualities.

The forward is also a proven Premier League performer. In his five seasons in England’s top flight with The Cherries, Joshua scored forty-eight goals in 161 appearances.

Josh King is a player who can play out on the right wing and he’s a star that will give his all for his fellow forwards. He has the acceleration and the dribbling ability to fit into the United front three.

I have no doubts that the Norwegian would love a chance to finally prove himself at Old Trafford.

Obviously Jadon Sancho will remain the main transfer target but Manchester United can’t afford to have all their eggs in one basket. They still need another forward to change things this term.

If a astute deal can be done with AFC Bournemouth then a move for Joshua King as a stop gap could prove to be fruitful as Man United continue to try and close the gap at the top.
