Antonio Conte Could Be The Man To Get Arsenal Back Into Champions League

With every poor result and insipid Arsenal performance, you’ll find more and more of the Gunners support start to doubt Mikel Arteta’s ability to turn things around.

The North London giants looked weak and even scared as they faced and lost to newly promoted Brentford (BBC Match Report). That disappointing result brought with it a new chorus of fans demanding a change in manager.

But if Arsenal were to dump another boss, who should they look at to change things around at The Emirates?

Well the current standout choice could be former Chelsea gaffer Antonio Conte.

Now obviously bossing a rival won’t be a plus point for some Gooners but the Italian proved at Stamford Bridge that he can handle the pressures of managing in the Premier League.

Conte secured the English top flight title in his maiden season with the Blues beating Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho to that trophy. In his second season in London, Antonio would add the FA Cup to that Premier League title.

Previously to his stint in England, Conte brought success back to Juventus. Where he won three Serie a titles in a row! He enjoyed a winning percentage rate of over 67% during his 151 games in charge at Juve.

After Chelsea, the fifty-two year old would go back to Italy and wrestle the Scudetto back off of Juve whilst he was the coach at Inter Milan last term.

So that’s been five league title successes for Antonio Conte in his last three club jobs.

The experienced boss left Inter this summer after he concluded that they didn’t meet his ambitions (Source Sky Sports).

The former Azzurri boss could just be the manager that gets Arsenal back into the top four.

Arsenal have been extremely weak at the back for quite some time now. As a coach Conte has a great track record when it comes to creating tough defences. He assess his players and then decides if they need to play with three centre-backs or with a back four.

The Gunners were famed from being resolute in defence in a bygone era and Conte could toughen that spine and make them hard to beat again.

The home support at the Emirates will also tell you that the current squad lacks heart and passion. Again this is something that Conte brings to his sides. He picks out foot-soldiers and others then follow their example. Maybe he can do that with Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey.

Conte also likes to have veterans within his pool, players he can trust. Partey, Pierre-Emrick Aubameyang, Willian, Cedric Soares and Alexandre Lacazette could fall into that category.

The Italian also seems to get the most and best out of his talent.

Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has publicly praised Antonio for making him a better player:

‘You came at the right time and basically changed me as a player and made me even stronger mentally and more importantly we won together!’

‘Winning is all that matters to you and I’m glad that i have had you as a coach.’

Again it’s very telling that Lukaku goes out of his way to tell everyone that it was Conte that turned him into a winner. The manager has a strong winning mentality and that filters down to the players.

This current Arsenal side need a disciplinarian coach. One that can relate to players and get more out of them. A boss with a winning mentality and a successful CV. A manager that can get his tactics right and build a strong defence.

To me, if The Gunners decide to bite the bullet and get rid of Mikel Arteta. Then they should definitely sound out Antonio Conte as he has all the tools needed to get the club back into the major European places!
