AC Milan Star Suso Could Solve Arsenal’s Right Sided Attacking Issues
Arsenal certainly look a better and brighter team under new manager Unai Emery.
They’ve now gone twelve games without losing, although Crystal Palace stopped The Gunners seven game Premier League winning run with a 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park yesterday.
One issue the Spanish coach still has with his new Arsenal squad is finding a consistent attacker to play well on the right-hand side.
Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan can both play out there but they seem more suited and more influential when deployed as a number ten. Alex Iwobi has also found himself out on the right wing but he’s never looked as comfortable there as he has looked on Arsenal’s left.
Emery and The Gunners recruitment team might be better off looking at bringing in a player during the next transfer window to solve the problematic issue.
One name that they should definitely check out is AC Milan’s Suso.
The Spaniard scored a cracking drive to secure Milan a much needed win over Sampdoria this weekend. That was Suso’s third goal in nine Serie A appearances so far this season. He is averaging around 3.8 shots per game.
Now while it’s good that the wide-man is helping out with a few goals, it’s his assists stats that are well above the norm this term. No player in Europe’s top leagues has bettered Suso’s seven top flight assists thus far this season.
The twenty-four year old created a hat-tick of assists in Milan’s 3-1 triumph over Chievo earlier in the campaign. His first was a quick cutback from the right side, his second was a defence splitting through ball from the centre and his last was him stepping in from the flank and playing the ball across to Giacomo Ventura.
All in all, Suso has been directly involved in ten of his team’s eighteen league goals. The forward is really making Milan tick.
The Spanish attacker is versatile; meaning he can also play on the left and through the middle. But it’s on the right wing where he seems to be at happiest and where he causes the most amount of damage to the opposition.
He’s a player that is comfortable dictating things at his own pace when’s he is on the ball. He also enjoys cutting in onto his left foot and even though opposing defenders can see this, they struggle to prevent him from doing it. He has the vision to play nice though balls for the main striker and Suso also has the craft to float in dangerous crosses to aerially astute attackers.
The winger has a change of pace and the intelligence to make counter attacks work in his team’s favour and he can also take the ball past opponents with his neat dribbling skillset!
Back in May the former Liverpool player stated that he had more in his locker:
“This is an important moment in my career and next year will be even more important. I feel like I am only at 60-70% of what I can achieve.”
If the start of this season is anything to go by, then he has certainly achieving more and more as each month passes.
Arsenal could be doing with more consistency and creativity on their right wing, meaning Suso could be an ideal signing if they can thrash out a deal. It could be really thrilling to watch Suso step inside and then seeing Hector Bellerin bombing beyond him on the Arsenal right.
Talk is that the player has a €40m release clause in his contract with Liverpool, Inter Milan and Chelsea already being mentioned as possible suitors. The Gunners should act quickly if they believe he’s the man to add more balance to their already exciting attack!
